EDU Stream is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to everyone, regardless of disability or assistive technology. This statement applies to edustreamed.com and all associated applications.

Our Commitment

We believe that education should be available to all. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Conformance to these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for everyone, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, have motor disabilities, or have cognitive disabilities.

Conformance Status

EDU Stream is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to achieve full conformance.

This statement was last reviewed in January 2025. We undertake ongoing accessibility audits and aim to review this statement at least annually.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features across the platform:

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements — navigation, buttons, forms, and modals — are fully operable via keyboard. Focus order is logical and visible focus indicators are provided throughout.

Screen Reader Support

We use semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks to provide meaningful structure for screen reader users. Interactive components include appropriate ARIA roles, states, and properties. All images include descriptive alt text.

Captions & Transcripts

Video content includes auto-generated closed captions. We are progressively adding human-reviewed captions and full transcripts to our content library. Audio content includes transcripts where available.

Text & Colour Contrast

Our primary text meets or exceeds the WCAG AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against background colours. Interactive components meet the 3:1 non-text contrast requirement. We do not use colour alone to convey information.

Resizable Text & Zoom

Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. The platform is responsive and tested at common viewport sizes and zoom levels.

Reduced Motion

Animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. Users who have opted out of non-essential motion in their OS settings will experience a reduced-motion version of animated elements.

Video Player

  • Playback controls are keyboard and screen-reader accessible
  • Playback speed adjustment (0.5× – 2×)
  • Caption toggle with high-contrast caption styling
  • Full-screen mode accessible via keyboard shortcut (F)

Known Issues

We are aware of the following issues and are working to resolve them:

  • Auto-generated captions — accuracy varies; human-reviewed captions are being added progressively (target: all featured titles by Q3 2025).
  • Complex data visualisations — some charts in the admin section do not yet have text-based alternatives. This affects admin users only.
  • PDF downloads — some downloadable resources are not fully tagged for assistive technology; we are reprocessing these files.

If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know using the contact information below. We prioritise reported accessibility issues.
